AIESEC updates
Farewell MC Team 2006-2007
The team 06 - 07 would like to thank you for your amazing support during the
past 12 months! Here you can read about our AIESEC experiences and what our plans are for the future:
Elie: “It is the end of my term as MCP! I am about to finish my AIESEC Experience! But I will never leave AIESEC. After AIESEC there is AIESEC Alumni!” (Viktor Loewenstein)
Chrisi: This MC term was the most exciting, challenging and rewarding year of my life. I will take this experience with me my entire life and look back at it as a source of learning, self-discovery, motivation and friendship. My plans for the future? Get involved in international politics and development co-operation. BUT first it is time for HOLIDAYS! :-)
Dan: This year had really met my expectations: I learned a lot about a new culture, more about management, leadership and people development. The 3 highlights of the year have been Kick Off, BeLDS and the successful recruitment all LCs had in autumn. Just after the end of the term I will go for 18 days in Rwanda to support the expansion and by that time I hope I will be matched with an AIESEC internship.
Pedro: Being for two years in the MC of AIESEC in Belgium have been the best two years of my life. I will like to thank all the alumni for the support in the different projects we had organized. My next step in life is to finish my master after master that I am currently doing here in Belgium, so I will stay in Belgium for another year but not working for AIESEC any more.
Tijs: This is it, almost 13 months after entering the MC office I am about to close this chapter of my life. It has been a year of extremes that learned my to stretch, to overcome my fears. It was a learning experience that I would not have gotten in anywhere else. At this point I'm like most of the other AIESECers, I know what I do not want to do, but I do not know yet what I want to do. It does not matter, I'm at the crossroad, almost ready to hit the road again and confident enough to write that I will find my way in life.
Makis:
Makis feels
really sad for leaving Belgium… Being international MCVP Finance was
such a challenging experience but also learning as well. He is now
going back to Greece to graduate and then figure out his future. He
feels very grateful for this year in Belgium and will keep forever
in his heart the people and all the moments that he lived.
Transition Time
7 people. 4 nationalities. One office. One term.
The 60th anniversary of AIESEC in 2008. The MC 2007-2008 is excited to share this intense one-year development journey with all of you this year! The
National Plenary has decided to take the Alumni Strategy & Involvement as one of the national focus areas in 2007-2008! This means the whole network - MC and all the LCs - will be working towards involving more and better the alumni in the future! Our LCs, our MC and our national coordinator Sandy Lopes (sandylopes@gmail.com) will welcome your thoughts and comments on this throughout the year!"
From Andries de Vos - MCP 07-08
Last Thursday we had a journey back in the past of AIESEC
Globally and AIESEC in Belgium, looking through old documents and discovering the reality back then.
Acknowledging all the information we gathered and found out some interesting points amazed us. For example, did you know that in 1979 IC organized in Belgium was presided by King Baudouin? Some other interesting information: the number of exchanges the same year was twice as high as nowadays! Even globally, AIESEC did 7029 exchanges in 1989!
We welcomed AIESEC Alumni for sharing their interpretations of the reality and the reasons they think it changed since then. Concerning the exchange, Viktor Löwenstein explained us how the matching was done before the implementation of computers in AIESEC. Imagine a big room at IC, with people shouting everywhere and holding green and pink sheets in their hands: a bit like an internship-stock-exchange :) Moreover, getting input from the invited Alumni after this day looking through the history of AIESEC gave us a lot of interesting insights for the upcoming term.
From Sandy Lopes -Alumni Coordinator 07-08
Mentoring Alive
A pioneering innitiative in People Development was the “! Mentoring alive” which facilitates 20 mentoring relationships between members, alumni and externals. MC, LCPs, EB and National Support Team members took this great opportunity for personal growth. Our alumnus, Patrick Merlevede from JobEQ, has supported this successful initiative all the way through. The project is now almost half way through and looks very promising for the future.
